Introducing Crawlina

I’m both excited and terrified to be writing this.

And of course, I’ve been putting it off.

I started working on this a few months ago, and I overthought every single tiny detail, but the one thing that I kept postponing was getting it published and sharing it with the world.

Why?

Because it’s scary.

It’s scary when you finally decide to take the leap and jump into something new.

But here goes, so please be kind to me! =)

crawl - The first SEO concept I truly wrapped my head around when I started out in the industry ten years ago

ïna - The last 3 letters of my daughter’s name, my inspiration

For the past decade, I’ve worked both agency-side and in-house. I’ve learned lots from brilliant folks that I had the pleasure of working with. Doing my own thing was always on the back of my mind but I kept pushing it because I didn’t feel ‘ready’. But what does ‘ready’ mean?

The pandemic has made it very clear that we can’t be ready for what’s next. It changed the way we work everyday. It convinced us that we’re ‘working from home’ but we all know this isn’t what working from home means. It introduced job instability through furlough, redundancies and the current stream of layoffs that are happening globally.

Yes, we are living through a recession and this might not be the best time to quit my full-time job and do my own thing, but then again, is there ever the right time for this?

My ultimate goal in ‘doing my own thing’ lies around flexibility:

  • The flexibility of who I get to work with

  • The flexibility of owning my schedule

  • The flexibility of dedicating more time on my passion project: Women in Tech SEO

And with everything, I know there will be a learning curve. And I’m excited about that!

Over the past few months of planning this, I spoke to a lot of brilliant people who inspire me and I want to thank them for sharing their expertise and giving me their time, energy and words of encouragement. Thank you Aleyda Solis, Glen McMurry, Hannah Smith, Natalie Slater, Oliver Mason, Paddy Moogan, Tory Gray, my Shine Crew (thank YOU all 7 of you!) and the DMU.

Last but not least, thanks to my husband for his endless support, and to my daughter who is my true inspiration.

Let’s do this! =)
